Terms of Service

By accessing or using KDP Studio (the “service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

KDP Studio provides tools to plan, draft, format, and export manuscripts intended for Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing), and to resize front covers to the pixel dimensions expected by Amazon's Cover Creator. KDP Studio is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon, KDP, or any of their affiliates.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Accounts are intended for a single individual; do not share your password.

• The service is offered on a subscription basis at $5.99 per month. No free trial.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. By starting a paid subscription you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.
• You can cancel at any time from the Billing page in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are not provided for partial periods by default, but we may issue a prorated refund at our discretion — email us and we'll work it out.
• Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice; price changes apply to your next renewal.

KDP Studio uses your own OpenAI API key to generate text. You are billed directly by OpenAI at OpenAI's published rates. KDP Studio does not mark up, resell, or otherwise profit from OpenAI usage, and we do not provide AI credits. You are solely responsible for any charges OpenAI incurs against your key while you use the service, including charges resulting from large, automated, or repeated generations.

You retain full ownership of the manuscripts, covers, book metadata, and other content you create, upload, or generate while using the service (“Your Content”).

You grant KDP Studio a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, and process Your Content solely as necessary to operate and improve the service for you. We do not claim ownership of your books and we do not use Your Content to train AI models.

You represent that you have all rights necessary to upload Your Content and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party.

The writer produces text using OpenAI's models. AI output may be inaccurate, biased, or resemble existing works. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, fact-checking, and ensuring that any output you publish does not infringe third-party rights and complies with applicable laws and platform policies (including Amazon KDP's content guidelines).

We aim to produce exports that meet Amazon KDP's published specifications (trim, bleed, margins, file format, EPUB structure, cover pixel dimensions). However, Amazon ultimately decides whether to accept a submission. We make no guarantee that any specific manuscript or cover will be approved by KDP.

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or to produce content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or sexually exploitative of minors.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or extract source code from the service.
• Resell, sublicense, or expose the service as a competing product.
• Upload malware or attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or other users' data.
• Misuse another user's OpenAI API key or any credentials that are not yours.

You can stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, abuse the service, or create legal risk for us or other users. On termination, your data may be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KDP Studio and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KDP Studio and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of Your Content, your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which KDP Studio is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state and federal courts located there, and you consent to that exclusive jurisdiction and venue.

We may update these terms from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you by email or inside the app. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
